So one year ago today my sweet son’s adoption became final! Now we are his parents on paper….we were always his parents in our hearts. We will be having a little celebration just the three of us tonight. I am going to pick up some cupcakes and give Jack a small gift. Then go through his little photo album and talk about the day that he was born and I believe I was born again too that same day our son came into the world.

I thought I would make a list of some of the things my son has taught me in the 2 1/2 years since he was born:

1. How to build a road using Mega Blocks

2. How to do the Loopy Lou

3. How to eat spaghetti using your fingers

4. How to make mud pies

5. How to make housework wait one more day

6.  How to jump off the couch and land in a pile of pillows

7. How to be the Tickle Monster

8. How to shake the sillies out

9. How to be less selfish

10. How to love someone unconditionally

We took Jack out trick or treating for the first time. I dressed him up as a farmer. Farmer Jack I called him. We went with a bunch of our neighbors around our block. It was just starting to get dark out and it turned out to be a some what warm night. It was in the 40s! Jack loved it. He thought it was awesome to run with the other children up to each house(at night) and get candy! What more could a 2 and a half year old ask for. Needless to say he will sleep well tonight ( I hope). Hey a mom can dream can’t she?

The other adoptive couple

I just found out that the other adoptive couple that adopted Jack’s 1/2 brother lives an hour away! Our agency sent us pictures of baby “A”. I was not sure if I really wanted to see these pictures or not. If you remember last Oct. we were asked if we wanted to adopt Jack’s bmom’s new baby boy. She had the baby this past May. We had to say no because of the cost of the adoption. It was very hard for me to do….but it just was not the right time. So Natasha (bmom) place with another couple in NY. Who would have thought they would be living and raising their baby so close to us.

Mike does not want any contact with the other couple. I was disappointed about that. I would love contact…but I have to respect Mike’s wishes on this one. I do have their email address and phone number and names also. I will just have to tuck this info away in a safe place until Jack gets older. Jack will know that he has a brother that lives close by. When he gets older and wants to see him then I have the info for him.  I wish there was a instruction book about these adoption issues. I just hope and pray I am doing the right thing.

Oh yeah I did look at the photos of baby A and he is a cutie. I see some of Jack in him. I am glad that he was placed with a loving stable couple. I wish them all the joys of parenthood!

Well….14 yrs ago I married my best friend. I can not believe it’s been 14 yrs. Lord knows we had plenty of ups and downs in our marriage. We have gone through so much with losing 3 babies and many failed IVF cycles. The we adopted our beautiful son Jack. I think it has made our marriage stronger. I am so lucky to have a great husband and an awesome father in my life!

Jack was invited by his little neighbor friend to go with her class to a local horse farm. Jack loved the horses! He fed them carrots and got to brush one horse.

He also just loved the puddles just as much! Oh we can’t forget his cowboy hat!

My next door neighbor (I’ll call her J ) is due to have her first baby any day now. The sex of the little peanut is yet unknown. I find myself hoping she has a baby boy. Another close by little boy Jack could play with.  I just talked to her on the phone to see how things are going. No sign of baby yet. I guess he/she is in no hurry to arrive.

I had the pleasure of getting to know J and her husband when they bought the house next door to ours. They had just been married not to long ago. We all found out they were expecting this past spring. There will be a new baby on the block soon. I want to add that they also have the most playful dog I have ever known! Murphy and Brody ( the playful pup) play together too!

Well…I just wanted to wish J and her hubby the best of luck ( I know she reads my blog)….and I will be watching for those balloons soon to see if it’s a boy or girl!

Jack’s loves to ask why all the time now. No matter what I say he has to ask me “why mommy” Just the other day I was telling him we had to put his pants on and he asked me why. So I said because it’s cold out and he still ask me why. So after going around and around with him I finally gave up and said what mommys have said for years…..”because mommy says so.” He then saids why? I said to him “why what?” Jack looks at me and says “why mommy says so”…I just had to laugh.
